Q: I've been using Drano® for years to unclog my drains, but I've never really understood how Drano® works. What does it do to fix a clogged drain?
A: Although Drano® products can seem a bit mysterious, the general idea behind them is actually pretty simple. When you pour a Drano® product down your drain, the formula dissolves the clog-causing gunk that has built up inside your drainpipe. Once this gunk has been dissolved, water can flow freely.
Typically, clog-causing gunk consists of an accumulation of hair, soap scum or grease. Drano® products are specially designed to powerfully attack and dissolve this buildup, but they will NOT harm your plastic or metal pipes. Here's more on how our products work:
